In terms of speech, most patients with cerebral palsy have a lesion in the left broca's area of the frontal lobe (other causes include damage to the facial nerve). This is the primary area of the brain that controls motor speech. However, singing offers promising results. Singing, or music is governed by the right temporal lobe, a completely separate area that remains unharmed, and can be trained to take over some motor aspects of speech. Thus, parents of children with speech problems should never give up. Improvise, adapt, and overcome!

I understand that people with Cerebral Palsy need not only doctors, wheelchairs and communication, but unfortunately you and your group do not think of other ideas. Every person with CP has his or her overcoming. They may be small or large for these people. For example, I have a friend with CP who could not eat without help for 30 years. He learned to hold a spoon in his hand and to eat just now. This is a great overcoming for him. I know a lot of such cases. I know some people with CP who want to learned to read books and write poems, this is an overcoming too. This is wonderful for people with CP!!! I did never say that our sickness can be cured completely because it is utopia. We can, however, try to change our attitude to the problems that are within us and around us, it is true. This is a driving idea of my website.
